The Osa Peninsula holds some of the largest remaining lowland forest on Central America’s Pacific coast. Corcovado National Park is the centrepiece. It is a place for travellers who accept rougher logistics, early starts and heat in exchange for a wilder experience.
Drake Bay is reached by small plane or by road and boat via Sierpe. Puerto Jiménez, on the Golfo Dulce side, is reachable by road or small plane. Many lodges are only reachable by boat.
Whale and dolphin trips run from Drake Bay. Humpback whales visit Costa Rica’s Pacific in two seasons, from both northern and southern populations, but sightings depend on the day. Snorkelling trips to Caño Island Biological Reserve are also popular; we have not yet verified a specific Caño Island listing, so we show a live search below.
